In 2004 the fences came down between the Kruger and this large 40 000 hectare private reserve, meaning that game is now free to roam the entire area. There are just a few commercial lodges in the reserve with mainly private landowners. A major highlight is the mighty Olifants River that runs through the reserve providing both water to the resident animals as well as scenic beauty.
